Michael Lyons – Secretary Treasurer

Born and raised in Vancouver, Michael began his post-secondary education at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia at the Faculty of Arts and later attending Capilano College, where he earned diplomas in both Business Administration and Business Finance.  At the age of 23, Michael founded an electronic surveillance and security retailer called Lower Mainland Alarms. He sold the company in early 2000 –the proceeds of which– allowed him the freedom to entertain several less structured entrepreneurial endeavours including: real estate investing, day-trading and private lending. Seeking a creative outlet, Michael put his management skills to work in the film industry.  He later explored the need for an export marketing facility in Canada based upon other successful models found throughout the Pacific Rim. Since then, Michael has been President of the Canada Export Centre, a permanent export exhibition and marketing facility in downtown Vancouver.  Working alongside partners in government and industry the Centre hosts foreign trade missions and business travelers from around the world to explore trade opportunities with some of Canada’s leading exporters.
