BCEIA Hosts Delegation from China

August 23, 2010 – BCEIA, in partnership with the BC Ministry of Small Business, Technology and International Trade, hosted a Roundtable for delegation from Xinning, the capital of Qinghai Province, China. The Roundtable, organized by International Affairs Committee Chair Michael Lyons, featured presentations by BCEIA members Andrew Gillam of AMEC, Mike Mysak of Golder Associates, Scott Foster of BI Pure Water, and from two new BCEIA members, William Danshin of PWC Pure Water Corporation and Wendy Yao, representing Kerr Wood Leidal consulting Engineers.
Comprised of senior decision makers from the Xinning Municipal Water Bureau, the delegation was seeking to learn more about what BC has to offer in the area of waterway control and flood pre–alarm management.


Fraser Transportation Group awarded South Fraser Perimeter Road contract

August 23, 2010 – The B.C. government has signed a major public private partnership (P3) agreement to build a road south of the Fraser River in Delta and Surrey. Fraser Transportation Group will undertake construction work costing $658 million and assumes responsibility for the construction, cost, schedule, design, long–term maintenance and operational risks related to the project. The environmental and agricultural mitigation and enhancement budget at $88 million is the largest mitigation plan for a highway construction project of this size in B.C. More


Governments of Canada and BC Launch Asia Trade Program

August 20, 2010 – Over $2 million has been earmarked for the BC Economic Innovation Partnership Program, to boost trade and investment with Asia. The Program supports activities that promote trade and investment between Asia and BC such as seminars, inbound and outbound trade missions and online marketing initiatives. One element of the program is an initial business accelerator pilot project operating out of the Province’s Trade and Investment Representative Office in Bangalore, India. BCEIA intends to pursue opportunities for its members under this program. More


B.C. government names environmental, health law breakers

August 18, 2010 – For the first time, the B.C. government is outing companies and individuals who flout environment, health or safety laws in the province. The Ministry of Environment has named names in its quarterly compliance summary after the law was changed last year to provide more transparency and deter people from breaking the rules. Domtar Inc. and Seaspan International of North Vancouver, the North Okanagan Regional District and Gracia Financial Corporation of Delta were all issued compliance or enforcement orders over environmental or public safety concerns.
