BC MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT: New Draft Analytical Methods Posted for Review
Comments being accepted until April 28, 2017
March 27, 2017 – New draft analytical methods listed below, developed with the assistance of the British Columbia Environmental Laboratory Technical Advisory Committee (BCELTAC), have now been posted for review and comment to the ministry’s Sampling, Methods & Quality Assurance webpage, BC Environmental Laboratory Manual, “Methods Posted for Review“.

2. “Alkylphenol and Ethoxylates in Soils and Sediments by LC-MS/MS”
3. “Alkylphenol and Ethoxylates in Water by LC-MS/MS”
4. “Analysis of Cyanide (Total, Weak Acid Dissociable, and Free) – PBM”
5. “Asbestos in Soil – PBM”
6. “Chlorinated and Non-Chlorinated Phenols in Soils – PBM”
7. “Chlorinated and Non-Chlorinated Phenols in Water – PBM”
8. “Cyanide, Total or Weak Acid Dissociable, by Manual Distillation – PBM”
9. “Digestion for Total Metals in Water – Prescriptive”
10. “Diisopropanolamine (DIPA) in Water and Soil Samples by HPLC – PBM”
11. “17a-Ethinylestradiol in Water by LC-MS/MS – PBM”
12. “Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (EPH) in Water by GC/FID”
13. “Glycols in Soil and Water – PBM”
14. “Liquid-Solid Partitioning as a Function of Leachate pH – Prescriptive”
15. “Methylmercury in Soils/Sediments – PBM”
16. “Methylmercury in Waters – PBM”
17. “Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Solids by GC/MS – PBM”
18. “Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Water by GC/MS – PBM”
19. “Strong Acid Leachable Metals (SALM) in Soil – Prescriptive”
20. “Sulfolane in Water and Soil Samples by GC/MS – PBM”
21. “Trace Metals Analysis by ICP-MS – PBM”
22. “Volatile Hydrocarbons (VH) in Waters by GC/FID”
23. “Volatile Organic Compounds in Solids – PBM”
24. “Volatile Organic Compounds in Water – PBM”
The majority of these new draft methods have been developed in support of the Stage 10 (Omnibus) amendment to the Contaminated Sites Regulation.
