About the ECO Canada Internship Program
The ECO Canada Internship Program gives eligible employers up to $15,000 to hire interns for full-time, meaningful environmental jobs related to one or multiple STEM fields – Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics that also have a positive environmental impact.
EYC is funded by the Government of Canada through their Youth Employment Strategy (YES) – Science Horizons funding.
NRCAN is funded by the Government of Canada through Natural Resources Canada’s Green Jobs Initiative – Science and Technology Internship Program, as part of the Youth Employment Strategy (YES).
Internships typically last 12 months and are intended to lead to permanent employment.
o Canadian owned or a Canadian subsidiary
o Offering a full-time, permanent position
o Providing an environmental position in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
o Planning to hire a new employee (the intern cannot be an existing employee)
o Intend to lead an environmental career related to Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
o Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Canadian refugee status.
o 30 years of age or younger
o Graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution with a minimum 2 year program
o Able to work in a full-time, permanent position
o Unemployed or underemployed
o Not currently employed at the host organization
o Not a family member of the host organizations’ directors or senior officers.
