BCEIA’s First Indigenous Affairs and Business Relationships Workshop a Success!
Stay tuned for future workshops!
On November 9, the British Columbia Institute of Technology hosted members of the BCEIA at a workshop on Indigenous Affairs and Business Relationships. The workshop was led by Kory Wilson, BCIT’s Executive Director of Aboriginal Initiatives and Partnerships. Participants discussed a variety of topics including the distinct groups of Aboriginal peoples in Canada, the history of colonization, the Indian Act and how it has affected relationships with Aboriginal peoples, and the importance of establishing genuine relationships with Aboriginal peoples that precedes discussion of business opportunities. The thirteen attendees were complimentary in terms of recognizing Kory’s knowledge, both experiential and legal, and her relaxed, open presentation style.
