Grants Available for Community Round-ups (Collection Events)
BCUOMA grant support increased to $1,500 per community collection event
MAY 2, 2018 – The BC Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA) is pleased to announce an increase in grant funding available to BC Regional Districts, Municipalities and community recycling organizations for their planning, coordination and execution of Community Collection or “Round-up” days.
Several BC communities currently hold round-ups or community collection events for a wide range of products and materials, including household hazardous waste. BCUOMA currently sponsors some of these events to support the collection of oil and antifreeze by providing $500 per event. BCUOMA has now increased that support to $1500 per event to increase the number of events and improve support for existing events.
In addition to increasing the financial contribution, BCUOMA will also provide event marketing support including: advertising material, event signage and social media support. BCUOMA will continue to provide a volume based financial incentive to the registered collection company that is selected by the event organizers to collect and transport the material to a BCUOMA registered processing facility (recycling facility). To find a list of the registered collectors that serve your area of the province please click on the map on our Registered Collectors page – http://bcusedoil.com/collectors/.
If you are interested in applying for a Round-up Grant, please send an e-mail request to Sharon Pearce, BCUOMA’s Consumer Recycling Program lead at [email protected] . Include in your note: • the lead organization for the event • the location and date for the planned event(s), • and indicate if other stewardship associations will be participating.
