CICan Career-Launcher Internships Subsidy

$15,000 intern subsidies available in Natural Resources and Clean Tech industries

AUGUST 15, 2018 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) now offers two wage subsidy internship programs offering eligible employers up to $15,000 to hire post-secondary graduates in a green job  for 6-12 months.

Program Details:

CICan Natural Resources Internships, funded by Natural Resources Canada

  • CICan will contribute up to 50% of an intern’s salary, to a maximum of $15,000
  • Internships are to be in natural resource sectors.

CICan Clean Tech Internships, funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada

  • CICan will contribute up to 70% of an intern’s salary, to a maximum of $15,000
  • Internships are to be related to clean technologies.

Eligible Employers:
·         Post-secondary education institution
·         Aboriginal organization or association
·         Small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) (less than 500 employees)
·         Large corporation (more than 500 employees)
·         Non-government organization (NGO)
·         Not-for-profit organization
·         Municipal or local government
·         Provincial or territorial government, institution, agency or Crown Corporation 
 
Eligible Interns:

  • Graduates from a post-secondary program.
  • 15 to 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada
  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
  • Not receiving employment insurance during their internship

Please note that there is no maximum set for an organization and the subsidy will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. No funding should be considered confirmed until a contract between CICan and the employer is finalized.
