NOVEMBER 16, 2018 – Mark Hugdahl, ALS National Technical Director of Canada, has been recently recognized for his exceptional and professional work with the Lab Coat Award, presented to him at the 58’h Annual Pacific Northwest International Section of the Air & Waste Management Association Conference in November 2018. This award is given to an individual for outstanding contributions to laboratory and ambient sampling technology in the region covering Alaska, British Columbia, Yukon, Washington, Oregon, Montana, and Idaho.
Mark was nominated for this award by Dr. Joyce Austin, Acting Director of Analysis, Reporting, & Knowledge Services for the British Columbia Ministry of Environment. Dr. Austin nominated Mark for his superior service as the Chair of the BC Environmental Laboratory Technical Advisory Committee, his ongoing technical guidance and advice on environmental regulatory limits within the province, and his scientific leadership.
Mark oversees Quality and Technical aspects of the Canadian region and has just met the milestone of 30 years with
ALS. His priority is always to improve the quality and efficiency of analytical methodologies. Mark continually shares
his expertise and knowledge through collaboration and support within the ALS Network, offering guidance,
recommendations, and advice. On so many occasions, lab managers, chemists, and technicians from all over the
globe have expressed gratitude and offered kind words for how Mark helps them resolve issues, improve laboratory
work, and save time and effort. It is our pleasure to see Mark recognized both within the ALS network and as a
