Since 2018 as the Executive Director of Environmental Emergencies and Land Remediation (EELR) with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV), Kevin has administered policy and operations under the contaminated sites regulatory framework, and led the provincial response to hazardous material and harmful substance spills impacting the environment and/or human health. This includes leading ENV’s efforts to respond to the large scale impacts of man-made, natural and sediment deposition from the flooding event caused by the November 2021 Atmospheric River.
Prior to this, between 2012 and 2018, Kevin was the Executive Director of Technology and Innovation within a range of ministries (including Jobs, Trade and Technology; Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology; and, Technology, Innovation and Citizens Services). The focus of the role was to placing a wider innovation lens across the knowledge and resource economies to facilitate the uptake of new technologies with the aim of increasing competitiveness across sectors in B.C.
Kevin holds a B.Sc. (J.Hon.) in biochemistry and marine biology from the University of Wales, and received a PhD in biochemical physiology from the University of Glasgow in 2002.
