Author Bios

Richard Bereti is a partner with Harper Grey LLP and Chair of the firm’s Environmental  Law Group.  He provides advice on liability issues arising under the Environmental Management Act, the Contaminated Sites Regulation and other provincial and federal environmental statutes. Owners of commercial property, commercial and industrial enterprises of all sizes, developers, parent companies, engineers, consultants and directors and officers rely on his advice. He negotiates with provincial and federal agencies and, where necessary, argues before the courts and Environmental Appeal Board. Richard handles cases in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Yukon Territory, and advises clients across Canada and outside our borders. As a former adjunct professor of law at the University of British Columbia Richard is a frequent speaker at continuing education and industry conferences on environmental issues. He has been recognized by Chambers CanadaLexpert® Canada and Best Lawyers in Canada® as a leading lawyer.

Una Radoja is an Associate with Harper Grey LLP and Assistant Chair of the firm’s Environmental Law Group.  Her practice focuses on two key areas: general commercial litigation and contaminated sites litigation and risk management.  A significant component of Una’s contaminated sites practice involves litigation matters related to recovery of remediation costs pursuant to the Environmental Management Act and common law, and appeals before the Environmental Appeal Board. Una regularly advises property owners, developers and other businesses with respect to strategies to minimize environmental risk arising from ownership of and operations on contaminated land. She also represents clients in their dealings with the regulator in relation to applications for orders and instruments, including approvals in principle and certificates of compliance.  Her clients range from small businesses and property owners, to developers, strata corporations, insurers, and multi-national, large corporations and REITs.
