BCEIA 2025-26 Annual Report

MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT, JOHN HIBBARD

Collaboration, continuous improvement, and community-building continued to define the BCEIA this year.

The past year’s growth reflects more than increased numbers:

  • Membership growth, event participation, and conference retention all point to a stronger and more connected sector community.
  • Recent growth across multiple membership categories suggests increasing resilience, diversification, and long-term engagement within the Association.
  • BCEIA’s activities increasingly function as an interconnected system:
  • Events and conference programming drive visibility, engagement, and relationship-building.
  • Communications amplify those conversations and extend BCEIA’s reach beyond individual events.
  • Search and digital discoverability bring new organizations and professionals into the community.

    Social media strengthens ongoing connection and sector-wide amplification

    Conference and event programming continue to serve as BCEIA’s strongest community-building tools:

    • High levels of repeat attendance demonstrate trust and long-term engagement.
    • Strong new attendee participation shows BCEIA continues expanding its reach across BC’s environmental sector.
    • Communications performance reinforced the importance of people-centered engagement:
    • Community-focused and event-driven content consistently generated the strongest response across platforms.
    • Emerging Professionals, Regional Networking events and Truth & Reconciliation programming all performed particularly strongly.

    Continuous improvement remained an important organizational focus:

    • BCEIA continued refining communications, programming, outreach, and engagement strategies.
    • Strong digital metrics and audience growth reflect increasing alignment between BCEIA’s activities, messaging, and member interests.
    • One of the strongest indicators of success this year was increased participation and amplification from the community itself:
    • More reposts, shares, returning attendees, and repeat engagement suggest members are not only participating, but actively helping extend BCEIA’s visibility and impact across the sector.

    These achievements matter because of what they represent:

    • stronger collaboration across the sector
    • growing trust and participation
